TEACHERS INTERESTED IN PREVIEWING OR REVIEWING INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS
We need previewers for all grade levels and all subject areas!
The inclusion of teacher input in the media selection process is invaluable in ensuring
that the items selected for the IRC collection support the VBCPS curriculum,
adhere to the division criteria for selection of instructional materials and are considered helpful by
the targeted end user-the teachers!
Once we have a list of interested teachers, the list of teacher previewers will be forwarded to certain C & I coordinators for approval as per their request. Details concerning the preview/review processes will be sent to you as soon as the list is finalized. Then short form (1 page, 8 questions) to indicate whether or not you feel the item should be purchased. The item will then be passed to a program coordinator and/or the IRC coordinator for further review.
Occasionally we ask our volunteers to review items already in our collection to determine whether they are still useful.
While you can not earn PDP points for your efforts, you may
receive points toward license renewal using Option 9-Educational Projects.
You would need to work this out with your principal. Generally, 1 point for each hour with a 5 hour
minimum is the standard. You need 180 recertification points every 5 years.
If you only take the PDP minimums (14 district and 8 site based) each year you will only have 110 points.
Volunteering for the preview /review process is a wonderful way to earn some of those additional 70 points.
